Stuart Murray has created a new body of work specially for inclusion in Trash Vortex, a group show of outdoor/site-specific artwork installed around Hackney Wick. Trash Vortex is curated by Steve Smith of Tangent Projects, and will coincide with the Hackney Wicked arts festival 2009. The show and festival run from Friday the 31st July to Sunday 2nd August. Stuart Murray's 32 'A3 prints' document a week spent in London and will be pasted up as flyposters on a fence surrounding the now vacant site of the Lee Tavern in White Post Lane, Hackney Wick. From Tangent projects website: Inspired by 'the world's rubbish dump'. Trash Vortex aims to explore how the ripples of seemingly insignificant, throwaway and complacent individual actions eventually impact and inform events and actions on a larger scale. "Ripples become currents and currents have the power to drag the small and insignificant into their orbit and create a mass of great power & significance."
